Liverpool vs Everton

Merseyside derby matches are always incredibly tense, dramatic affairs with an high octane atmosphere & they are much more than football matches and they become the focal point for an entire city with victory the only prize worth having.

Both Liverpool & Everton have improved in terms of their consistency of results in recent weeks with Liverpool unbeaten in the Premier League since the middle of december & Everton unbeaten since November so we don't expect their to be too much between the sides here.

This is going to be a really intense, competitive battle with Liverpool & Everton under pressure knowing they cannot lose so that makes a score draw a tempting bet but on balance we just favour Everton as a value bet to edge this & get a massive win.

Bolton vs Fulham

Fulham's biggest problem in playing away is a failure to score enough goals which results in them being put under pressure & it makes it very difficult for them to get positive results.

We are not expecting this to be a classic match with flowing football likely to fairly limited & it is hard to get over confident about either Bolton or Fulham but on balance Bolton look the sensible call to get a vital home win.

Burnley vs West Ham

(Saturday 3.00pm GMT)

The January transfer window was also a massively positive event for Zola & West Ham as they have been able to strengthen their squad & particularly in attack where they needed it most as their failure to score enough goals has been their biggest weakness.

West Ham come into this match unbeaten in their last 3 matches with three successive draws & that should at least give the West Ham players the confidence to go to Burnley & have the belief they can get a positive result.

Both sides have to win but equally they both know they cannot afford to lose so this is going to be intensely competitive & with goals a possibility and so the value looks to lie in backing Burnley & West Ham to share the points with a scoring draw a value bet worth taking here.

Hull City vs Manchester City

In terms of form then Manchester City have had their ups & downs in recent weeks with important wins at in the league but also a very disappointing away defeat at Everton & they have to prove here that they can perform away as well.

We are expecting Manchester City to be very positive in this match because they have a clear edge over Hull City in terms of the quality within their squad & particularly in attack with Hull's fragile defence a clear target to attack.

Bellamy, Tevez, Adebayor, Wright-Phillips, Petrov & Ireland are all extremely talented attack minded players who will relish taking on Hull City's defence and they really could enjoy themselves here.

The fact both teams have to win this match should make for an entertaining game & the prospects for goals are clear as both Hull City & Manchester City are prone to defensive mistakes but in terms of the result we like the look of an away win for Manchester City who look worth a bet to have too much quality.

Stoke City vs Blackburn Rovers

The big negative for Blackburn Rovers is their terrible away record of only 1 win from 12 away matches and they have only secured 6 points from a possible 36 away from home so far this season.

The biggest reason for that poor away return is the fact Blackburn Rovers have only scored 8 away league goals & that does make it incredibly for them to achieve positive results away from home.

From a viewing perspective we don't see this game ranking to highly amongst people's lists with positive, attacking football likely to be limited and this is going to be a competitive battle so it's a tough call but home form could well be the key & Stoke City look worth backing to get another home win.

Manchester United vs Portsmouth

Portsmouth go to Old Trafford sitting rank bottom of the Premier League, 5 points adrift & with a record of only 1 away win all season so the prospects are not good.

Portsmouth have only achieved 5 points from a possible 36 away from home & have only scored 5 goals in their previous 12 away league matches.

The only positive for Portsmouth is that the team spirit still seems quite resolute & they are attempting to have a go in matches but it really is incredibly tough to envisage a positive outcome for Portsmouth here.

No Premier League match is ever easy & Portsmouth will have a go of sorts but anything other than a totally comfortable home win for Manchester United would be a shock & Manchester United look an absolutely rock solid bet to take the points with the betting value lying in the correct score markets.

Sunderland vs Wigan

The mood around Wigan at present is not great & their terrible away record of 8 defeats from 12 does not inspire confidence nor does the fact they have conceded an average of 3 goals per game away from home.

The only positive for Martinez & Wigan is that they remain faithful to the Martinez's policy of playing controlled, passing football but whether that will be enough against Sunderland is doubtful.

We are not expecting this to be a game that will live long in the memory because both Sunderland & Wigan are under too much pressure not too fail and the inconsistency of both sides makes it a tough call but we think home advantage will be just that for Sunderland and they look worth a bet to get the win.

Tottenham vs Aston Villa

4th place, Champions League six pointer this one with Tottenham & Aston Villa clashing here in what should be fantastically competitive & entertaining game.

Tottenham have an excellent home record & have only conceded 8 league goals at home while Aston Villa have been strong away only conceding 11 goals.

The flip side to that is that both Tottenham & Aston Villa have plenty of attacking quality with Defoe, Crouch, Krancjar, Bentley & Modric for Tottenham going up against Agbonlohar, Heskey, Milner, Young & Downing for Aston Villa so there should be chances created & the key will be which side takes their chances first.

Tottenham & Aston Villa come into this vital match in good, confident form so it should be extremely competitive & entertaining & the added pressure of the game makes it a tough call but we are going to nominate Tottenham as the bet to make home advantage pay & get another vital 3 points.

Birmingham City vs Wolves

The crowd at St. Andrews can really generate a fantastic, intense & indeed hostile atmosphere for the really big occasions & in the eyes of Birmingham City & Wolves fans it doesn't get much bigger than this derby clash.

Wolves come into this massive local derby under massive pressure sitting only marginally above the relegation zone on goal difference & without a win in the league since December.

To their credit, Wolves have showed spirit & determination in all of their games this season but the lack of quality within the squad in all the key areas of the team has made it incredibly hard for them to get positive results on a regular basis.

To be fair, Wolves have shown great spirit to earn 3 successive draws in the league so that should give them some confidence to take into this game but Mick McCarthy will know how tough a test Birmingham City will present.

The major weakness in Wolves's season so far has been their inability to with only 19 scored in 23 games & they have only achieved 7 points from a possible 33 in their away matches as well.

Goals are likely to be in short supply in this one & the local derby element makes a low scoring draw a realistic prospect but Birmingham City have been very strong this season & they look worth a bet to edge this battle.

Chelsea vs Arsenal

That defeat by Manchester United was a heavy blow to take & again highlighted the fragility of Arsenal when they face stronger, more aggressive & more powerful sides and that has to be a major concern coming up against this current Chelsea side.

Arsenal have the ability within the players such as Fabregas & Arshavin to go to Chelsea & get a result but the real key is do the Arsenal players have the strength of mind, the character & the belief to do that and that has to be in doubt given their record against Manchester United & Chelsea this season.

This is the biggest game of the weekend & could well be the most entertaining, dramatic & intense given the importance of the 3 points to Chelsea & Arsenal but in terms of a result we cannot see past a home win for Chelsea who have more power, more strength & incredible home record that makes them a solid bet to win this.
