The Avalanche have started new season very well, but I think their form will go downwards and there won't be any playoffs for Colorado this season. On the other side, there are plenty of young players trying to make a name for themselves.

The Devils had been methodically building their roster for several years. They have enough talent in their squad. Their goaltending tandem is one of the best in the league. As goes Brodeur, so goes the Devils nation.

For the first time since the lockout, Carolina has made some significant off-season moves. It's refreshing to know that all four forward lines are made up of NHL calibre players. The Hurricanes should be a more exciting team to watch this season.

Expectations are high in Vancouver and a trip to the second round of the playoffs will not be good enough this season. They have a great goaltender in Roberto Luongo and two, top-20 scorers in the Sedin's signed long-term.

The Sharks won the President's Trophy last season. They were first in the Western Conference and first in the Pacific Division. But after that San Jose lost to the Anaheim Ducks in six games in the playoff.
